Day 1
KALIMPONG
On arrival in Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri railway station, you will
met and driven to Kalimpong (4 hrs.). This is one of the most beautiful hill
resorts in the Darjeeling district. With an altitude of 125m., Kalimpong is
situated on the right back of the river Teesta. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2 KALIMPONG
In the morning proceed on at half day sightseeing tour. Visit the different
‘Gompas’which are Tibetien-Buddhist Monasteries. Tharpa Choling Gompa blongs
to the Yellow Hat Sect of Tibetien-Buddhism founded in the Tibet in the
14th-century and to which the Dalai Lama belongs. Thongsa Gompa, of the
Bhutanese Monastery, is the oldest monastery in the area. Visit the flower
nurseries-Kalimpong produces 80% of India’s gladioli and is an important
orchid – growing area; flowers are exported from here to many cities in
northern India. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Kalimpong. |

Day 3 GANGTOK
Today you will drive to Gangtok (4 hrs.). On arrival in Gangtok, check into
your hotel. Gangtok is the gateway to Sikkim, the last Shangrila. The gently
swaying and elegant costumes of the Sikkimese people, their smiling faces,
the unhurried pace of their life-style and the towering beauty of
Kanchenjunga… all cast a magic spell on this delightful location in the
foothills of the grand Himalayas. An air of enchantment hangs over this
city, indeed the whole valley; the mysticism, the stupas, the monasteries
reach out as soon as one has approached. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4 GANGTOK
In the morning, visit the Rumtek Monastery, which is the largest monastery
of its kind in Sikkim and the main seat of the Karma Kagyu lineage, followed
by a half day sightseeing tour. Visit the Research Institute of Tibetology-an
organisation to advance the Tibetan language and its literature on the
“Enlightened one”, the only one of its kind in the world of Mahayana
Buddhism, the Garden Sanctuary and Buddhist Monastery. Also see the Deer
Park and drive through the colourful bazaar. One can buy many attractive
items like carved furniture, dress, Lepcha weave bags, carpets and durries
with intricate designs and colourful decorations. One can also buy wooden
and bamboo artifacts. Overnight in Gangtok.

Day 5 Darjeeling
Drive from Gangtok to Darjeeling (3 hrs.). Arrive Darjeeling and check into
your hotel. Overnight in Darjeeling.

Day 6 Darjeeling
In the early morning drive to Tiger Hill (accessible by jeep only). From
here the great Mount Everest is visible on clear days. At sunrise, the
snow-clad mountain peaks constitute a glorious feast of colour. Return to
your hotel via the Ghoom monastery, which has a 15 – foot high statue of
Maitreya Buddha, and is the most famous monastery in town. Later in the
morning, proceed on a half day tour of Darjeeling which covers Lebong
village which has the highest race course in the world, the Mountaineering
Institute, House of Tensing Norgay and the Botanical Gardens. In the evening
visit the tea gardens. Overnight in Darjeeling.
