This package
takes you on the trail of the Indian Tiger and a
magnificent bird population. The heritage site
of Ranthambhore, housing palaces, a formidable
fort and a popular temple is a most convenient
place to see the tiger in its natural habitat.
Just the prospect of spotting pugmarks and
stripes, amidst the forested hills and lakes,
lodges and water holes is excitement in itself.
The Ranthambhore sanctuary is home to the Tiger
Project, one of India's famous conservation
success stories.
Near the small city Bharatpur is the Keoladeo
National Park. Once the hunting grounds of the
princes of Bharatpur, it is ranked as one of the
world's finest bird sanctuaries today. This park
is visited by over 400 species of water birds
including the rare Siberian crane. Among the
amazing variety of birds that arrive in this
park each year are many from faraway places like
Afghanistan, Central Asia, Siberia and Tibet,
attracting both ornithologists and layman alike.
Both Bharatpur and Ranthambhore are in Rajasthan,
and are easily approached through Delhi or
Jaipur. One may suitably combine a visit to
these places with a trip to the sanctuaries.
Delhi, India’s capital gives you a feel of
ancient, medieval and modern India through its
various monuments built at different points in
history. In Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan, one
can see forts and palaces marking the glories of
a royal past. Its colourful bazaars are a
special and friendly treat for visitors. |
