Mehrangarh Fort:
Mehrangarh fort is a magnificent structure built
in 1459 A.D., when Rao Jodha shifted his capital
from Mandore. It is a standing sentinel to the
grandeur of the past, and houses a palace
intricately adorned with long carved panels and
latticed windows exquisitely wrought from red
sandstone.
The apartments within, have a
magic of their own- the Moti Mahal (Pearl
Palace), Phool Mahal (Flower Palace), Sheesh
Mahal (Mirror Palace), Sileh Khana and Daulat
Khana with a rich varied collection of
palanquins, howdas, royal cradles, miniature
paintings, folk music instruments, costumes,
furniture and an impressive armoury. The display
of cannons on the ramparts near Chamunda Mata
temple is among the rarest in India.

Umaid Bhawan Palace:
Built by Maharaja Umaid Singh, this exquisite palace is
also known as Chittar Palace as local Chittar stone is
used in its splendid example of Indo-colonial style of
30s. There is an excellent museum housing models of
aeroplanes, weapons, antique clocks and bob watches,
priceless crockery and hunting trophies. A portion of
the palace has been converted into a hotel.

Mahamandir Temple:
Situated on the Mandore road is an architectural
splendour, built in 1812 A.D., supported by 84
carved pillars, ornamented with detailed designs
and figures depicting various postures of Yoga.
The entire structure is marked by its unique and
original style. |
